REGULATORY COMPLIANCE ENGINEER

FULL-TIME MARLBOROUGH, MA

As a Regulatory Compliance Engineer at Square Robot, Inc., you will be part of a talented team working on
our autonomous mobile robotic solutions for industrial infrastructure inspections. In this role, you will be
responsible for ensuring Square Robot’s designs are safe and comply with local, regional, national, and
international regulations. The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized and capable of supporting
the development, tracking, and verification of engineering requirements from concept to production. If you

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed analyses to ensure our designs meet applicable FM Approvals, CSA, IEC, EN, and UL
    standards and CE Directives.
  • Write requirements for hardware subsystems based on regulatory compliance standards.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the definition and ongoing refinement of Standard Operating
    Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with Regulations and HSE best practice.
  • Orchestrate and conduct regulatory compliance activities, including Hazardous Locations (NEC/ATEX)
    and Hazardous Substances (RoHS).
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and document development activities.
  • Help maintain our product lifecycle system, including the tracking of certified parts and assemblies.
  • Lead change management activities for revision controlled hardware.
  • Develop test plans as per standard requirements and guide personnel in execution.
  • Efficiently manage a portfolio of assets and their associated compliance to applicable standards.
  • Engage directly with clients to provide regulatory compliance technical expertise and maintain
    strong professional relationships.
  • Lead hazard and operability (HAZOP) discussions and risk reviews with customers, addressing
    potential concerns by educating customers and stakeholders on the physical hardware features and
    operating procedures.
  • Communicate with various management levels, ensuring clear and effective project updates.
    Manage projects with Nationally Recognized Test Labs (NRTLs); determine requirements and testing
    scope, support test events, and drive efforts to a timely completion.
  • Manage external quality assurance audits.
  • Support internal site audits, non-conforming events, and CAPAs.
  • Engage directly with field deployments, ensuring solutions are robust in real-world scenarios.
  • Collaborate within the engineering team to build a cross-disciplinary innovative culture.
  • Ensure that best QA practices are employed by all departments so that hardware systems are
    developed, qualified, and maintained in a manner which provides assurance that the system
    conforms to both internal and external requirements.

required qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in the use of standard test and measurement equipment (DVM, Oscilloscope, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite or Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized individual with excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Proactive mindset, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement
  • Takes pride in their work within a fast paced environment

BONUS qualifications

  • Experience evaluating and applying technical standards
  • Prior work related to hazardous location equipment
  • Knowledge of CE Directives, or similar compliance standards (REACH, RoHS, etc.)
  • Experience in developing and maintaining design history files and technical files.
  • Experience in technical writing, for hardware development processes and deliverables
  • Experience in developing SOPs, work instructions, and report templates.
  • Accustomed to training personnel in accordance with applicable regulations.

Job REQUIREMENTS

  • Domestic and International Travel up to 12%
  • Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire

Location

This position is available for full-time work at Square Robot’s office based in Marlborough MA. Travel
outside of the office is expected to be not more than 6 weeks annually for test events, field support, supplier
meetings, team meetings, or technical conferences.
You will play a critical support role for the field team, supporting efforts to maintain, repair, test, or operate
Square Robot systems. This may include travel to Square Robot’s facility in Houston, TX, and to job sites.

Language Skills

The candidate should be able to read, analyze, and write documents, such as policy and procedure manuals,
quality assurance instructions, and other related documents. Fluency in English is required.
